Top 10 Hotels in South Beach, Miami Beach

One of the many benefits of being a mobile spray tanning artist in Miami Beach is getting to visit all of the fabulous hotels. Since moving here in 2009 I have really watched this city grow into an internationally acclaimed vacation destination. These are my favorite hotels in the Magic city based on size, location, beach access, amenities and glamour.

10. The Royal Palm Hotel

1545 Collins Avenue

The Royal Palm has recently undergone a renovation to modernize the property. It is situated on Collins avenue with direct ocean access and beach cabanas. The rooms are spacious and clean, the suites are large and have all the amenities of a condo. The decor is modern yet cozy with many wood accents. On site amenities include a pool, pool bar, beach service, restaurant, spa and gym. It is a block from Lincoln Road and a block from Ocean Drive.

9. The Lowes Hotel

1601 Collins Avenue

The Hilton Bentley is located in the quiet and Posh Sofi neighborhood (south of fifth). Tucked away from the touristy neighborhood to the north lies this Hilton beachfront property. The Bentley is next to Nikki Beach, Story nightclub, Prime 112 and Joes Stone Crab. This is the nicest neighborhood in South Beach and the pier is a great place to take pictures at sunset. Amenities include spacious rooms, beach cabanas, pool, hair salon, spa and restaurant De Rodriguez Cuba.

7. The W Hotel

2201 Collins Ave

I love visiting the W hotel in South Beach because it is the most modern hotel in the area. From the glass balconies overlooking the ocean to the futuristic decor, the W hotel is a 21st Century hotel. The rooms and bathroom are spacious and well lit making it fun to get ready for a night out. The W is located oceanfront close to the Setai Hotel and Bass Museum of Art. Amenities include beach cabanas, pool and pool bar, cocktail lounge, Bliss Spa, Wall nightclub and restaurants The Dutch and Mr Chow.

6. The Setai

2001 Collins Ave

The Setai hotel is an Asian inspired place of tranquility. Located in the center of South Beach on the ocean, you are walking distance to many restaurants and attractions including the Bass Museum of Art. The rooms are very large and cozy, and the service is five stars. Amenities include beach cabanas, pool, spa, restaurants and Sunday Brunch. The Setai is the best hotel in Miami Beach.

5. The Palms Hotel

3025 Collins Ave

Not to be confused with the Royal Palm hotel, The Palms hotel is located in the mid-beach neighborhood close to The Broken shaker and The Edition hotel. This neighborhood is newly hip and the newly remodeled hotels evoke the coolness of the 1950’s era Miami Beach. The Palms is a lush, tropical oasis located north of the hustle and bustle of South Beach. The palms has a beautiful garden with parrots and gazebos. Amenities include a cocktail bar, beach cabanas, pool and tiki bar, Aveda Spa, fitness center and modern bathrooms.

4. The Fontainebleau Hotel

4441 Collins Ave

Perhaps the most famous hotel in Miami Beach is the Fontainebleau hotel. Located in the Mid-beach area overlooking Millionaire’s Row, the Fontainebleau has hosted guests since 1954 in clouding the Rat Pack. With over 1500 rooms this is Miami Beach’s largest hotel. I highly recommend staying in either the Tresor Tower or the Sorrento tower because they are all suites and very large and comfortable. These two towers make up the newest and most modern part of the hotel. Amenities include beach cabanas, amazing pool, pool bar, Lapis Spa (my personal favorite spa in South Beach). Liv nightclub is one of the hottest clubs in town and The Fontainebleau books top musical acts such as Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. There are four amazing restaurants to dine at including Hakkasan, Michael Mina 74, Scarpetta, and Stripsteak.

3. The Ritz Carlton

1 Lincoln Road

The Ritz Carlton is known for luxury and good service. The South Beach Ritz is located on ocean at the end of The Lincoln Road Mall. Because of it’s central location, there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Take a stroll on the boardwalk just outside the front steps or ride a Citibike. The Ritz Carlton offers large rooms, beach cabanas, spa, fitness center, beach cabanas and limousine service. The Di Lido beach club is the only ocean front restaurant in South Beach.

One of South Beach’s newest hotels is The Edition located in Mid-beach. This ocean front hotel has a few unique offerings including a basement with a bowling alley, a club, and an ice skating rink. The beach cabana service is excellent and the pool has a Tropical themed bar. Other amenities include a 24 hour gym, a spa, and restaurants the Matador Room and Market. The 28 private bungalows are 1960’s inspired two story rooms that feel more like townhouses.
